Who needs a termite (Wood Destroying Insect or WDI for short) inspection?
The answer: real estate buyers, sellers, and owners.
Most often, a buyer of a new property will request a WDI inspection to make sure that there aren’t any termite or other wood boring insect problems with a property before finalizing a purchase. This is wise, since the cost of treatment and damage repair may cost many thousands of dollars if there is a problem.
Sometimes a home seller or the sellers agent will have an inspection done prior to the sale of the house to make sure that there aren’t any issues that pop up after the house is under contract.
There are a couple of reasons why homeowners get WDI inspections. One is for their own peace of mind. The second reason is that a bank or mortgage lender may require a written report when re-financing.
How does the process work?
- First, fill out the Termite Inspection Request Form.
- Next, Blue Ridge Termite will set a time to do the inspection and email you with that information.
- After the inspection in completed, the report will be typed and emailed to you and/or your Realtor later that same day along with a link for payment.
The fee for most inspections is $100.00. For large houses (over 3,000 Sq. Ft.) please call for a quote. There may be an additional charge for houses near the outskirts of our service area (see below).
